The Sultana Ski Team’s location as of Saturday night, May 6th.

After getting several SPOT messenger updates from Andrew McLean and the Sultana Ski Team over the past couple weeks, it’s nice to see that the they have finally been able to move up to their second camp near the summit of Mount Crossen. The team, skiers Courtney Phillips, Andrew McLean, Kip Garre and Fred Marmsater are on their way to attempt to ski the Sultana Ridge on Mount Foraker. (Link to previous post.)

Since arriving at basecamp on May 24th, they have been thwarted so far by high winds and weather, but were still able to shuttle gear and supplies up to the high camp. On Saturday, they climbed to the Mount Crossen camp and spent the night. The team planned to set up one more camp on their way to the summit, so they are potentially only two days away from the top of Mount Foraker, with a summit day coming as early as Monday.

It appears as though a period of high pressure is moving into the area, so things could very well be looking quite good for the crew. Good luck boys and be safe.
