Avalanches Baby!

I’ve seen a lot of avalanche footage over the years and I sometimes wonder if watching makes one more comfortable and less afraid OR more fearful of avalanches over time. I think to some extent, video footage tends to make you more scared of them, but outrunning and/or surviving an avalanche in real life, might make one less afraid of them and give a skier a false sense that they can (and will) survive all avalanches. Of course we know that if you have that kind of attitude as a backcountry skier, it is only a matter of time until you get bit by the white dragon.

Some of this footage is old and definitely been around the block, but I’m not sure if I’ve seen the one with the snowboarder that goes off at about 1:15. I must have missed that movie. Worth checking out for sure!

Are you saying a 15′ CROWN? Holy cow…sounds like you’re luck to be alive. Even if it was only 400′.

Local legend! I assume it’s from his “That’s It…That’s All” movie from last year. I missed that one.
