In 1996, Canadian extreme skier Trevor Petersen died while skiing the Couloir des Cosmiques in Chamonix, France. His body was found on the Glacier Ronde, two days after his death. Trevor’s skiing style was 
classic for the time and often ripped around with Eric Peota, who I was lucky to meet at last year’s Kootenay Cold Smoke Powder Fest. “The Edge of Never” documents Trevor’s 15 year old son, Kye Petersen’s quest to visit and ski the line that his dad died on. “I want to see what my dad last saw.” Kye says, before he begins his training to ski it with disciples Glen Plake and Mike Hattrup.
No skier can deny the luring spirit of this trailer. I just bought a DVD (click here if you want to buy one as well) and I’m sure it will get played several times on the sail across the Drake Passage. As a bonus, here is a video of Kye Petersen skiing in Las Lenas, Argentina this past September. Some cool stuff!

Much like every ski film M??? I think this is a great story M…and I think your viewpoint is very much the minority.
I am proud to ski in his backyard couple of times year - Pemberton, BC. Kye has great terrain to learn in.
I was supposed to go to the movie tour stop here last Thursday, and unfortunately got my dates confused. A friend who went said there were some odd transitions/story line, but otherwise it was a great movie.
Will have to watch it on DVD I guess.
That absolutely coolest thing I’ve ever done is ski the Couloir des Cosmiques, though we down climbed the first 1000′ (the hard part, so I guess sort of a hybrid ski, but on pins). I had no idea what I was getting into! Can’t wait to see the movie.
I think it’s cool that Kye went and did it. Never met his dad, but he was definitely one of the pioneers. You can’t fault the kid for following in his dad’s footsteps, which I say as a father.
I have a biased opinion because I used to babysit Kye when he was a little whippersnapper. As well, I have only read the book so far, but all I can say is that I’m shocked by it all.
I don’t know if the great irony of the scenario will come out in the movie, that the whole crew was saved from the same fate as Trevor by a snowboarder. Remember… the camera guy (Cham local on snowboard) bailed on their already VERY bad scenario(due to making a film) thus expediting the descent having no more opportunity to shoot. Moments after they exited the exit couloir a slide came ripping through. There’s actually alot to be debated on this subject rather than just “oh cool”, “Cham wow” but it’s all very subjective and personal.
I am obviously not familiar with some of these points, but I find it a little hard to criticize someone for pushing the limits and having a close call with an avalanche, since many of us (myself included) have also had similar experiences. And yes…very personal…so we should tread lightly.

So when all my friends were skateboarding in the summer they turned to snowboarding in the winter! And left there skis behind!
But my brother and I saw rap films and Eric Pehota and Trevor were skiing sick lines in there Rossi boots!
And Trev was snaking the skateboard bowls with wicked style and he was a ski mountaineer!
So I said forget snowboarding,and got some secura fix’s and skins and started retracing all the coastal descents Trev was doing!
