It is thought by some (albeit a small group of diehard Teton ski mountaineers) that Reed Finlay and I skied the Becky Couloir on the Grand Teton in April of 1999. However, this is not true and really…sounds like something for some other gringo skier. A guidebook author’s notes read:
Beckey Couloir on Grand: Steve Romeo and Reed Finley on alpine: “pieced together,” short sections of 30 meters, with 6 rappels, one of which was 60 meters (should ask him which one was that long), 6 or 7 turns at a time, rest of which were 20 feet. 4/24/99 in a storm, rainy in valley, but had some pretty nice stretches of visibility. Snow was pretty firm, not much avalanches coming down, somewhat of a runnel in Ford. Camped on Saddle in gnarly storm.——this apparently is not true 11/12/04…perhaps it was Pete Romaine and someone else 6/17/05. Not Pete Romaine 11/20/09

pretty stout line…eh? i have a feeling this descent was all just hearsay…and never really occurred.
