US Ski Team: Truth In Motion

We are about a month away from the start of the Olympics up in Vancouver this year. But, we are only a couple weeks away from what looks to be an interesting documentary on TV called “Truth In Motion“, which shows some of challenges select members of the US Ski Team have as they train and race their way to games. The production was filmed in Chile, Switzerland, Austria and all over the word, and follows the athletes as they stress about the competition, review video tape, tune skis and covers nearly every aspect one goes through as a member of the team.

There are a few other teaser videos out there that focus on certain aspects of racing like speed, determination and precision, and since ski races are won and lost by hundredths of a second, skiers must really push the limit in their training if they even think about having a chance at the gold. The film, commissioned by Audi of America (one of the US Ski Team’s biggest sponsors since 2007), covers the fastest racers that have serious chances of winning and medal and some of the newer members of the team that are simply fighting for a chance to race in Vancouver.

Speed………………………………………..Determination…………………………………..Precision.

I raced a little in college…and man, it’s not as easy as it looks.  The skills these athletes have is very impressive and this film is great way to get inside and see the ins and outs of ski racing.  The show will air on NBC at 8pm on Jan. 30th and there will be an encore presentation on the USA Network on Feb 6th..

Seems like a good movie. Thanks for the heads up Steve.

One thing is funny though - US Ski Team is sponsored mostly by Audi and Canadian is sponsored mostly by GMC. Just so you know where the bailout money is going to - towards kicking some American ass :)

Steve - you guys need to start getting a lot of coverage, and conditions need to stabalize, so you can start posting TRs of the Skillet, etc…, and I can enjoy reading them! Need my fix!

I’m sure that it will be entertaining…for skiers. I’d be cool to see some of the Olympic ski races…hear the skiers as they rage on by…but I don’t think I’ll be making up to Vancouver this year.

    And Stan…kinda backwards…eh?!

Nick…we still have a pretty thin snowpack. I went up to try and ski Hourglass Couloir on Nez Perce today…but it’s not even filled in yet. Stuck with crusty south facing turns instead. Debris piled from every direction in the Meadows.

    Olympic TV question.

Speaking of the Olympics, Can anyone in JH tell me how to watch the Olympics on NBC on my computer? We have no cable and the NBC antenna station is gone. Will Universal Sports have anything? Thanks

hmmm…there is a link on NBCOlympics.com…but it seems as thought you need to be a cable subscriber to watch online. :?:
