Darwin Awards Candidate?

This video was recovered after it was “removed by user”. Not by me…but by someone who felt like it was important to share with the rest of the skiing community…so I will oblige. The key part of this video starts at about 1:30. Now…I’ve never “ghost riden” a snowmobile before, but I’m pretty sure the objective is NOT to get run over by it at the bottom of the hill. I feel bad for the guy…but man…that’s gotta hurt!!! I wonder if his bindings slowed him down and kept him from getting out of the way?

it’s funny and painful at the same time. you want to be like…”dude…wtf were you thinking”…but also feel obligated to be like…”dude…are you okay?” or “dude…need a hand?”

I’m pretty sure they based the character in the paramarker video on this guy.

    HA!

i’ve recently learned that “paramark” refers to when said telemarker drops the knee on one turn, but doesn’t on the other.

telelle = when said telemarker doesn’t drop any knee.

    there…now you know!!!

Man, this is brutal. It looked to me like he collased from fatigue at the end of the run and got stuck in the snow.

Lesson: When you earn your turns, the downhill is the easy part.

Classic Seattle Creek. I like how he gets winded after 5 turns and needs a rest. Good work posting this, we’ve been laughing about this all week, it’s nice that everyone can share in the laughter now

Wow. I think that was best left unrecovered, and Im disappointed that you put that on here as entertainment. Laughing about his teles while he gets destroyed is brutal.

I don’t think they were trying to ghost ride the sled. My bet is that homie on the sled what f**kin’ around, lost control, bailed off the sled and let it go. When I have ever done Canadian Hot Laps, you always kill the sled before you send it ghost riding…weird it was still running. Hilarious none the less…

that’s what he gets for paramarking! thanks for posting steve. humor aside, some important info can be gleaned from it.

Dude that was terrible to watch. That dude totally was impatient and sent his sled too early, AND like a jackass left it running. I would be pissed, but you know what they say, "half a binding, half a brain" he should have stood up.

I leave my sled on for the ghost ride, that’s standard Alaskan practice, otherwise they like to stop mid slope. Also, you can tell it’s a ghost ride as hes stops next to his own sled (that he ghosted down) only to get hit by his buddies.

Painful to hear somebody hurt themself regardless. This would be funny if it were a cartoon.

Patrick, if you frequent Steves site you would realize that he takes any oportunity he can to dis’ teleskiers, snowboarders, recreational skiers at ski areas, and anybody with less experience, fittness, older gear, etc. than he to justify his elitist attitude. Yeah I’ll bet that hurt, but it’s telling that it comes to us not as a cautionary tale of things not to do as a backcountry sledder/skier, but as “look down on others” humor about tele skiers. I would bet that he would not have even put this video up if it had been, say an AT skier. While he does provide lots of local information that is helpful, he falls far short of being much of a local ambassador to the Tetons. the self-righteous diatribe of his “look at me and how cool I am” postings is often tiring to say the least. There is a reason that someone modified his hallmark sticker on his van to “live to spray” This will no doubt elicit some kind of smirky comeback from Steve, but hey thats what we’ve all come to expect.

“matt”…do i know you? because you sure don’t know me!

i could care less that it’s a telemarker in this video and i would post it either way. but, it does allow for a little bit of tele-jabbing non-the-less. it hurts and is funny (in an america’s funniest bloopers sort of way…are you sympathetic those victims too?) no matter who the victim is. and you may think of some posts as “look at me and how cool i am”…i think others see them for what they are…they are called trip reports. i got “over” myself years ago when i grew-up. maybe some day you will too and take this website for what it is…entertainment.

the ironic thing about comments like yours “matt”…is that to me…you are the one that is coming across as elitist…never mind defensive and insecure. i share my likes, opinions and knowledge with everyone!!!
