Live To Ski Weekend Video

I put this video together of the three days of skiing that was my weekend…I think a couple weeks ago now. Nothing too outlandish, and it starts with a couple pics from a nice ski tour to No Woods Basin. The meat of the footage is a mission in the northern end of the park. […]

TetonAT.com Videos: Teewinot Southwest Couloir

I called in sickter to work the other day and got out with some friends to ski the Southwest Couloir of Teewinot. I’ve been enjoying skiing in Glacier Gulch this year, and have skied the Southwest Couloir a number of times in the past, but it’s just so darn beautiful in the area that I […]

Will The Hossack-MacGowan Route Get Skied Again?

While skiing in Glacier Gulch yesterday, I found myself staring up at and day-dreaming about skiing the Hossack-MacGowan route on the north side of the Grand Teton.   I think it has been about 14 years since the route had its last (2nd) descent, and although we have had some really phat snow years since then, […]

Teewinot Video Stokage

Last Friday, I got out with Reed Finlay to ski an obscure line on the southwest side of Teewinot Mountain that drops down into Glacier Gulch. I’m not really sure what to call this route, but we dubbed it the “Son of Southwest”, after Teewinot’s more prominent and more often skied Southwest Couloir, that lies […]

TetonAT Video: Okie’s Thorn Couloir

Here’s is a little video stoke (it’s a little slow and mind-numbing) from skiing Okie’s Thorn Couloir last week with Reed Finlay. It’s a pretty obscure line, but the couloir sits directly skier’s left of the Dike Couloir, a popular descent on Garnet Canyon/Glacier Gulch loop-tours. It also runs below a sharp pinnacle, called Okie’s […]

Avy Avoidance: Always Look Uphill!

Here is little look at a very close call by a couple guys skiing the Northwest Passage in Granite Canyon and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort backcountry during last year’s epic snow season. It looks like on this day there was some considerable avalanche danger and one skier came one turn away from getting munched. […]

Icy North Face Static Peak

Got a little sketched-out skiing the North Face of Static Peak the other day, a first for me as it usually looks rocky and terrifying. Morning clouds and wind kept things firm on aspects that typically get sun at first light. I knew it would be icy, but went for it anyway. (It’s good training…right?) […]

Sneaker Couloir Video

Here is a little video I made a while back for the Black Diamond Journal of skiing the Sneaker Couloir in GTNP. It’s nothing special, mainly due to the low light and lack of HD POV camera. This was the last time my POV camera actually worked and I am in the market for a […]

Remembering Wray Landon Today

Last year on this day, our friend Wray Landon died in an avalanche while skiing the South Teton in Grand Teton National Park. (Here is the original report posted on TetonAT.) I have mourned the loss of Wray a lot over the past year and I really miss him. I know people are out there […]

2.19.2011 Bighorn Sheep Sighting

Had a cool bighorn sheep sighting yesterday. Normally the sheep don’t run right towards you, but I think another party down canyon might have spooked them towards us.

Windy Peak 10,696

Over the weekend, I skied Peak 10,696 in Grand Teton National Park with Randokitty. The weather was pretty burly, with wind gusts close to 70mph that day. The skiing was halfway decent, when you could see, and Kitty got blasted by a huge wind gust on her descent.

Did I Poach the Powder…or…Sorry Mr. Bighorn!

The poach. Historically here in the Tetons, winter closures to protect wildlife habitat in Grand Teton National Park have started on December 15th. Area closures around and near the town of Jackson, mainly Forest Service land, start on December 1st. Advocates like the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance put […]

New Zealand Video Stoke Part 1

I put together this little video for the Black Diamond Journal, from the first half of my recent trip to New Zealand in October.  Nothing too outrageous as far as ski footage goes (unlike this one), but it’s got a catchy beat and reminds me of the beautiful mountains of the South Island.
