I'm also reminded of what they (the mountains) give and what they take. After I heard about his death by friends in town, my heart sank- I changed my plans for the following day. My friend respected my decision, and we enjoyed powder in a less extreme area. Knowing people like Steve existed, was enough for me to push my own boundaries, while keeping my own limits acknowledged. Losing these two men in the mountains will not be forgotten, but we should focus on our own limits and our own friends for strength and acknowledgment of our power and the mountains' power for our decisions.
