Got out yesterday with Reed Finlay to ski a fun line on Buck Mountain I hadn’t skied before called “Buck Shot”. It’s kind of the north east face of the mountain and consists of two big hourglass-like features and is a 2000′ shot right into Avalanche Canyon. The top was steep, but not too steep and the snow was good. Here’s a slideshow from the day.

Unfortunately, we didn’t top out on the summit of Buck, since there were a few inches of new snow on top of a good sliding surface, and although it looked like it was cold and the windy at the highest elevations, the sun started baking our line as soon as it came up and we wanted to get it before it got ruined. Lots of slough and even popped off a decent sized “accelerator” slab that could have done some damage if you were in the wrong spot at the wring time. Some pretty good video footage from the day, but it will take a bit to edit. Ciao for now!
