This photo of our ski tracks on the Grand Teton was on the front page of this weekend’s edition of the Jackson Hole News and Guide. Great view of a fracture line on the East Face above the Otterbody Snowfields too.
Tracks from local skiers Steve Romeo, Brian Harder, Reed Finlay and Dustin Lemke are visible just below the summit of the Grand Teton at sunset Thursday.

Steve, Pretty stoked on the site and way to charge it down there. Hope you guys get some snow soon. I had a quick question. What is in your rack that you take when you ski the grand? I imagine it’s pretty small and light…any mandatory pieces you wouldn’t even consider skiing it without?

Thanks for the props! Looking forward to getting back to JH for some more skiing.
My Grand rack is pretty small I guess, since I tend to simul-climb the technical sections with my partner. I guess the next step is to solo it. For now, it consists of 3 cams (.75-2) and a couple screws…with the appropriate number of slings and biners. 60M twin ropes of coarse. I’m sure people do it with much more and much less gear…but that is where I’m at right now.
Crampons, axes and helmet are a must. Not to mention the skis. 😀

Keep bagging them romeo, pray for some snow…did albright today, a bit punchy up top. mid elevation was good if you staying in the hundred yard wide northern aspect. worth out.
Glad to here your skiing in the park now. I assume the knee is good to go?!
So after seeing the photos of the skiing on the Grand Teton my friend and I went and skied it on Sunday. We got a super early start and were almost all the way to the meadows when the sun hit us. I felt the glory of God then. Good boot pack to the top (thanks Greg and Brady). there were 7 other people up there so the skiing was getting a little moguly. sp? We went car to car in 12.5 hours so I guess that’s fast. I’ve never skied real mountains before, but I’m a bike racer. I did a 360 off a rock in the meadows too! Big mountain/freeride. Fusion… definitely where I’d like to see the sport go. Praise to God for a perfect day.
