Help Support Bill Briggs!

I got an email from Tom Turiano while I was in the Winds asking for some help getting legendary Jackson skier, Bill Briggs inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame. As of now he is just nominated…but it sounds like he really needs our help getting elected into the elite group of skiers.

Hi All,

If you hadn’t heard, Bill Briggs has recently been nominated to the “National Ski Hall of Fame.” Unfortunately, the nomination currently has little supporting documents, and in its current form, he probably will not be inducted. Not only is there too little to inform those on the panel who don’t know him, but also, as we all know, his eccentricities have long been a threat to the establishment. There might be some who might prefer that he not be associated with their fine organization.

Of course we all know that there is probably no one better suited to be awarded that status. We need to inundate the panel with testimony on Bill’s worthiness.

It would be great if you could send a supporting letter for the nomination of Bill Briggs to the National Ski Hall of Fame. Sounds like they need it asap. The nomination may be considered either later this week or next. Tell them about your experiences with Bill and what his accomplishments have meant to you as a skier. Of course, there are his ski mountaineering accomplishments, but please don’t forget his contributions to ski pedagogy (art or science of being a teacher) if that has touched you in any way. If you are pressed for time, a quick note would be great, or make it as long as you’d like. Also, if you have any old articles that you could send, that would be helpful as well.

The letter should be directed to: To Whom it May Concern, and needs to state support and endorsement for the nomination by Roberts French, of William Morse Briggs to the National Ski Hall of Fame.
