For those that haven’t been following The North Face Gasherbrum 2 Ski Expedition, now is the time to start paying attention to thier blog.
The trip has been rather interesting so far, with lost luggage, team members falling in crevasses, and Italian women in lingerie at Camp 2. Though team member Ingrid Backstrom did come down with some a intestinal bug, it looks as though all members are now in good health headed for the top…hoping to summit soon!
The team has done a great job of updating their blog, as well as moving up the mountain in good style. Often being the first team to set camps higher up the mountain, which means breaking trail for all the other teams and setting all the fixed lines. For a while, it sounded as if the temps might have been a little on the warm side, threatening a possible ascent/descent, but now it looks like things are in their favor. Stay tuned to the Ski the Karakorum website for up to the minute reports on their attempt to ski the peak!
Bummer. Looks like the weather window didn’t materialize.
Hope they get another shot!
