Sunrise on the Glory bootpack

My new Black Diamond Kilowatt set-upI got out for a couple runs on the pass before work today and I think I was the first person up Glory. Sometimes it’s hard to tell cuz the bootpack fills in so quickly. It was cold and windy.

I was tempted to ski Glory Bowl since it looked like it had been freshly controlled and had not a single track in it. I stood at the top for a bit, thinking about making turns down the slope. But then I remembered the news report this morning of the avalanche on Berthoud Pass in Colorado…as well as the death recently at the Village. Thoughts of living to ski another day crept into my head and I turned around and headed to First Turn.

Conditions were ok, the wind has had it’s way up here the past few days and the snow was pretty creamy on First Turn. I hiked back up as the weather began to shut down and did a lap on Shovel Slide. The top half sucked (wind hammered) but the protected turns on the lower half were very nice.

The Kilowatt’s skied nice…a little different than my Havocs and Verdicts. I need a good day skiing hard at the Village to really get a good idea of how they run though. Maybe this week.

Getting first tracks on my first run the first time skiing my Kilowatts on First Turn
