Looks like I’m skiing The Pyramid today, something I have actually never skied before. Maybe the ‘champagne chutes’ down into Jensen Canyon.

Scarpa Terminator X

NTN compatibleHere is a picture of the upcoming ‘Terminator X’ boot from Scarpa for Fall 2007. The new boot is more or less a beefed up F1 which is also compatible with the much talked about NTN (New Telemark Norm) system. This allows the AT/Tele skier to have one boot for both disciplines.

I had a pair of F1’s a few years ago for racing and liked them, but I didn’t use them for backcountry skiing that much because I wanted something stiffer . This version looks interesting and might have a place in the quiver for even hardcore Jackson skiers.

BTW, for those not in ‘the know’, the AT/Tele boot industry is really going to go off big in the next couple years. We look forward to Black Diamond entering the market in 2008. Dynafit and Scarpa (as you can see here) both will be introducing new and redesigned boots that really look nice for the North American market. This years Outdoor Retailer show should be rather exciting with all the new products.

Note: Since posting this, Mike Geraci from Basecamp Communications (who handles PR fro Scarpa), has informed me about the F3. What make it different is that it is a truly stiffer F1, as opposed to a new tele boot with Dynafit compatibility. Now this looks like the goods…Aye?
